Why Flow Injection?
The main advantage of Flow Injection is its ability to automate a wide range of wet chemical assays expediently, while using a simple experimental setup that provides full control of the solution handling operations.

FI removes the burden of manual repetitive tasks that must be carried out in a routine laboratory. Indeed, FI has become an invaluable tool in soil, water, environmental, pharmaceutical and many other laboratories that need to assay thousand of samples per day.  A typical assay automated by FI takes 30 seconds from the moment of sample injection to the peak height readout.

For researchers, FI is a valuable tool for studies in Chemical Oceanography, Environmental Monitoring and Pharmacology. For analytical chemists it offers insight into kinetics of reagent based assays and thus opens path to optimization of assay protocols.

During last 50 years, FI has not only found increased range of applications, but it also became enhanced by developments in microfluidics and computerization. It most recent variant the programmable flow injection (pFI ) offers new opportunities to automation of reagent based assays , to research in analytical instrumentation,  and confirms versatility of FI to automation of analytical instrumentation.

Two recently published monographs (Kolev & McKelvie 2008) and (Trojanowicz 2008) offer an excellent overview of the multitude of tasks, variety of applications and versatility of cFI techniques. The most recently published comprehensive review of Flow Injection (Trojanowicz 2016) offers a broad view of applications and detection systems.
